2020.2021 FFA State Champions
It is with great pleasure that the Dinuba High School Agriculture Department shares the results of our State FFA Finals and the student recognitions from the State Leadership Conference. We had three teams compete in various Career Development Events this past year, all while being virtual. We know first hand the challenges that brings, but our students persevered to accomplish great things and represented Dinuba FFA and DHS stunningly.
Congratulations to the Veterinary Science Team who had an amazing season being top 5 at every contest this year with several individual and team recognitions. Vet is a very challenging contest and these students did amazing. Coached by the legendary Mr. Roy Browne, the state finals Vet Team this year was made up of Amaya Carrillo, Melissa Corona, Cynthia Gomez, and Allexxus Villanueva. Fantastic job!
Join us in celebrating the Floral Team had a powerful season as well being top 3 at every contest and having numerous top high individuals the entire season. Coached by Mrs. Kari Wilterding, she led the team to be the 3rd High Team Overall at State Finals this year! Her state finals team was made up by Marcus Chavez, Andrea Contreras, Kayla Nunez, and Ashley Grano. We are so proud of them!
A big congratulations to the Nursery/Landscape team who were announced at STATE CHAMPIONS as the highest team overall! This is a back-to-back title for the Nursery Team. Coached by myself, this team was made up of Victor Martinez, Zechariah Nelson, 5th High Individual Overall Yvonne Cortez, and 1st High Individual Overall Jesus "Chuy" Gutierrez! As a top individual Chuy, as well as the team, had an undefeated season. After graduation, they will begin preparing for the preliminary rounds of the National Finals with hopes to be able to go back and compete in person in the final rounds in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Nursery/Landscape team member Yvonne Cortez was recognized in addition to the team by being announced as the 2nd High Individual in her proficiency area (Diversified Horticulture) for her supervised agriculture experience project, Blooms by Yvonne. She propagates and sells succulents and plant arrangements to earn money towards her state degree and was recognized as being a finalist for this project area. An absolutely amazing accomplishment and wonderful representation of Dinuba!
Additionally, we want to recognize our State FFA Degree recipients who were honored during the State FFA Leadership Conference for earning this prestigious award which on the top percent of students under the California FFA earn: Zechariah Nelson, Yvonne Cortez, Paloma Alcantar, and Shayanne White. This is several years of hard work for these students and we are so proud of them!
If you see any of these students, congratulate them on all of their accomplishments. Thank you for your continued support of our students and our program!
