DUSD's Learning, Guidance, & Student Support Center Holds Monthly Food Distribution for Dinuba Community

DHS's NJROTC students working hard during Food Distribution

Tuesday, September 27, 2022

DUSD's Learning, Guidance, & Student Support Center (LGSSC) has partnered with the California Food Bank to provide food to our DUSD families and the Dinuba community as a whole. We use the school as a hub to provide much needed food supplies for our families. Our distributions are scheduled once a month on the last Tuesday of each month throughout the school year.  During this last distribution, we handed out 300 boxes of food. Each box weighs 24 pounds and can create 20 meals per box.  In addition to the food boxes, over 500 packages of tortillas were provided.  We also distributed over 2,500 pounds of fresh produce, including peaches, romaine lettuce, apples, and celery.  We look to continue to provide fresh produce at the distribution and will more than likely increase the number of food boxes that will be distributed.

We are planning to use different service clubs at DInuba High School to help build a sense of community and belonging within our student body. NJROTC provided support for this past distribution, and they did a phenomenal job! The plan is to also invite different community partners within our district team to support future distributions.
