The District Office is currently closed in an abundance of caution so all updates will be posted on our district website and Facebook.

  1. Over 1,500 meals were prepared & served today by our Nutrition Services department. If you know a food services worker, give them a virtual high 5!  They are true heroes.  DUSD Principals & Directors supported the Nutrition Services food distribution and delivered meals to our local Daycare Centers.
  2. Academic packets have been prepared and will be mailed home to all K-8 students by the end of the week. 9-12 students should have received communication directly from the high school regarding academic work.
  3. The District is closely monitoring all updates provided by the CDC, the Governor’s Office and the California Department of Education. As updates are provided we are working to comply with new mandates and requirements.
  4. Please be reminded that all of the DUSD facilities, school sites, including gyms, playgrounds, athletic facilities, remain closed to the public.
  5. All meetings, events, athletics practices & competitions have been cancelled until further notice.

Letter to Dinuba Unified Staff Regarding School Closures

March 14, 2020 7:45 p.m.

Dear Dinuba Unified Parents,

First of all, the situation facing us is unprecedented and quite fluid. We take the safety and security of our students and staff very seriously. At this time, Dinuba Unified Schools will remain open on Monday. However, we will reevaluate on a daily basis. We are following the guidance of our county office.

The vast majority of Tulare County Schools will be open on Monday. That being said, we are preparing for the imminent closure of our schools at a moment’s notice. We are monitoring the situation very closely and if necessary, we will close schools. Our county health department, TCOE, and our state government continue to provide guidance as we make these difficult decisions.

In the event of school closures, we will continue to provide meals for our students.  We have a plan in place for that.

Thank you again for your continued support of our schools.   We can work through this together.

Dr. Hernandez, Superintendent

March 13, 2020   2:54 p.m.

In collaboration with the Tulare County Office of Education and in an abundance of caution, we are making the following precautionary adjustments:

  • All field trips, sporting events and extra-curricular activities outside of Dinuba are postponed or cancelled until April 13, 2020.
  • On April 13th, we will reassess the spread of the virus and will decide about future school activities.
  • We are continuing to follow guidelines from our state and local health officials.
  • As a reminder, staff or students who are sick should stay home. If you have a fever and or cough, you will need to stay home, except to get medical care until you have been without a fever for at least 24 hours without the use of medication and no longer have a cough.
  • Our local health department recommends that you give serious thought to any travel plans you may have in the coming weeks.
  • We are preparing for possible school closures.
  • This situation is constantly evolving. We will keep you posted.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as the situation continues to change.

March 12, 2020 8:16 p.m.

Good Evening Parents and Staff

It has come to our attention that rumors are being spread on social media making allegations that there is a case of the novel corona virus in our community of Dinuba. We want to reiterate that we currently have not been advised of any confirmed cases in Dinuba from our public health department. Please make sure to use trusted sources for information about this situation. We are regularly updating the community with information on our district website.

March 12, 2020

Dear Dinuba Unified Parents

In collaboration with TCOE, the District will be limiting staff and student trips out of the local area, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus in other parts of California.  Effective Monday, March 16th we will cancel all out-of-area student field trips, staff conferences, and athletic events until further notice.

Events located within Tulare, Kings and Fresno counties will continue, as scheduled at this time.   We understand that students and staff have been looking forward to these trips and this decision was not made lightly.

Some of the cancelled trips will be reformatted into a district activity so that we can continue to honor and celebrate our students’ work.

Administration will be looking into the cancellation and refund policies for trips that have already been scheduled.  In the coming weeks, your school site will have additional information regarding potential refunds for trips where parents have made a direct contribution.

We continue to work closely with state, county and local officials regarding our plans and how it may affect our community.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance in our fight against COVID-19.

February 28, 2020 Update

The purpose of this page is to provide you with information and resources regarding the novel coronavirus and the disease it causes, known as COVID-19.   This is a rapidly evolving situation, which we are monitoring.  As of this writing (February 28, 2020), there are currently no confirmed cases of this virus in Tulare County.

We are updating our existing pandemic plan for schools.  We are working closely with local health officials to share the most up-to-date information as it becomes available.  We will continue to monitor the situation so that we are able to efficiently respond to any changes.

In the meantime, please keep in mind that it is cold and flu season and there are some things we can do to encourage good health, including:

  1. Hand washing with soap and water for 20 secs. or using hand sanitizer when soap and water is not available.
  2. Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  3. Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  4. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  5. Stay home if you are sick with a fever and cough, except to get medical care
  6. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

Stop the Spread of Germs

Detenga La Propagacion De Los Microbios

The district will be providing additional disinfecting wipes for surfaces and hand sanitizer for staff and students, when soap and water is not readily available.   Our custodial team will implement additional cleaning and disinfecting, especially on high contact surfaces, such as door handles and counters/desks.
