Welcome to Preschool

  • Special Student Services

This department is our Mommy & Me program for children ages 3-5, they must be 3 already at the time of start and not eligible for TL/Kinder yet. It's a 2 1/2 hour class where the child needs to be accompanied by an adult 18 and over and it's only 2 days out of the week. There are 2 sites that host the Mommy & Me Preschool Program which are Roosevelt on Tuesdays and Thursdays (two different sessions/classes) from 8:30 AM-11 AM & 12-2:30 PM and Wilson Wednesdays and Fridays with only one session/class from 12 PM - 2:30 PM. Students do not have to be potty-trained as the adult is there for assistance to change the child's diapers. This program is currently postponed due to COVID-19. The parents normally would have to call (559-595-7212) to be put on the list for enrollment and it's on a first come first serve basis as there are only 15-20 students accepted into each class.

    The Early Intervention Center (EIC)

This program is specifically designed for children ages 3-5 with special needs/disabilities and/or delays. This center requires a referral and parents suspecting a disability or delay in development and/or speech can also reach out to me so that they may be referred to the proper staff to see if a referral is appropriate for the EIC. If they have a referral from a doctor, they may also fax over the referral to (Fax: 559-595-7215 ATTN: Jaqueline Montejano). These centers are both at Jefferson and Wilson and run from Monday - Thursday from 8:30 AM - 11 AM and 12 PM - 2:30 PM (like the Mommy & Me schedule) but parents are not allowed to stay with the student.

    Instructional Services

This department has a preschool program as well. It's for parents that are wanting something more independent where the student is just dropped off and is more Monday through Friday. The students will need to be potty-trained already when they start. This program has the Five Day, Four-year-old preschool program that is held at Jefferson and Wilson and is for 2 hours 45 minutes. Applications are given out at the end of the Spring Semester at/by the site Administrative Assistants and are also on a first come first serve basis with a limited number of students being admitted. Parents inquiring about this program need to contact the sites: Jefferson Elementary School 559-595-7360 and Wilson Elementary School 559-595-7370. This Preschool Program is also postponed due to COVID-19.

VDA Inc is a STATE Preschool

This program also admits/accepts children ages 3-5. They offer full-day and part-day classes, it is mainly income-eligible, although parents can choose to also pay a monthly fee. Students/children must be potty-trained and can contact Alma Lara at 559-596-5473 or the main office at 559-228-3232. At the moment, the classes are in-person only but you'll need to have to contact Mrs. Lara for enrollment capacity or questions.

Another Early Childhood and Learning Center

This program is out of district is the Head Start Program which normally offers in-person and a home base option. The requirements for enrollment are different for Head Start because it's a county-based program.
