I am proud to write that I have been teaching Social Science courses at Sierra Vista High since the fall of 2015.
Below you can read how students will be academically engaged in the various history courses that are offered.
Students enrolled in my Social Science courses will:
* Build a sound knowledge of historical concepts
* Learn historical thinking skills such as investigating and analyzing evidence
*Practice important literacy skills such as close reading and argumentative writing.
*Participate in academic conversations
In the World History course students cover the more than two hundred and fifty year period that is highlighted by the intensification of a truly global history as people, products, diseases, knowledge, and ideas spread around the world as never before.
United States History
Through the United States History course, students will examine major developments and turning points in American history from the late nineteenth century to the present.
American Government & Economics
Students in their senior year, will be enrolled in both American Government and Economics courses.
In the American Government course, students apply knowledge gained in previous years of study to pursue a deeper understanding of American government.
In the Economics course, students will study basic economic principles through both a micro-economic and a macro-economic lens.
