Degrees and Certifications:
English 10H utilizes a core literature program that is structured by the California State Standards for
Secondary Education. This process guides the student through the five main reading and writing strands:
Word Analysis/Vocabulary Development, Reading Comprehension, Literary Response and Analysis,
Writing Strategies, and English Language Conventions. The reading and writing domains will be highly

A. Students are expected to read a minimum of 900 pages and complete 3 Book Analyses.
Book Analysis due dates: 2/13, 4/3, 5/22. Students may always turn in Book Responses before

excused. No credit will be given for unverified or unexcused absences or “cuts”.

copies of your final draft—one to turn in, one to keep on file for yourself.

A. Homework will be assigned 4-5 days a week. Homework generally consists of reading assignments and
preparation for the next day’s discussion, process essay drafting, or team projects.
